Of gigolos and single mothers...

I adore Robbers. I got halfway through ep 4 and had to run, but OMG, so good.

One of the things I love about this is that it doesn't shirk from showing how horrible what Oh Joon does is, and what a bastard he could be. The scene with him and that poor little clerk was awful: I hated him, pure hate (but I admit I was also majorly irritated by her and was all 'girl, have some self-respect and stop clinging. Dysfunctional people, both of them). It's interesting because I think he lost it so much because he was confronted with the damage he is doing. I got the sense most of his marks are worldly women who, once he swindles, chalk it up to a bit of expensive experience. But his desperation for that money that is due or he will be killed made him slip up a bit...

And he didn't swindle the clerk, there is nothing to swindle, but the emotional damage is there, and it's worse than if he took her money.

But then he sits in the metro, totally hating himself and I don't hate him any more. I sure as hell don't want to date him but he is such a fascinating character, and Jang Hyuk is really good, because I go from hating Oh Joon to feeling pity, to amusement.

Oh, and Dal Rae, how wonderful is he? One of the things I like the most is that any of his complements roll off her. He is all 'I will wait for you all day!' She: 'Are you unemployed?' LOL.

DR asks OH to spare her some time this evening:

Clerk got her hands on Oh Joon's book and goes to find DR:

But Oh Joon pulls a fire alarm before she has a chance to ask things. This incredibly ugly scene follows. Good, thought I at that moment he deserves all the horrible pain he is going to get.

He so totally contemplated jumping!

That was rofl-tastic. He is contemplating her taking him to a fancy dinner etc...He is all *stare* and she is all 'Doesn't your neck hurt?'

She is going to channel his dead sister? (he told her a fake sob story) LOL.

And then I had to run. But not before clicking on the end of the ep to see what happened and seeing this. EEEE!

And then I had to run. Why oh why do I not have this on disc?

I watched up to this point and the kiss was rather nice. Thank you for the caps!! I lost the track of it with things I liked more, however. I think the guy seemed immature to me. :D Do you know how it ended (for endings are sooooo important :D).

Immature? Really? I thought he was emotionally messed up but not immature. Immature to me=childish but MMV. In any event, part of the story is him opening his heart and becoming a good person etc.

Ending is happy. It turns out he has some medical condition (blanking on what it is) which might potentially off him tomorrow or might let him live 60 years and die of old age. After lots of angst etc there is a happy ending because he is together with the otp because nobody knows what tomorrow brings anyway.

This sounds good! I might get back to it one day. Poor guy was beaten so often!!!! I might be too hard on him but there was something that didn't sit well with me about him.

Could it be that he was a scamming gigolo exploiting women for money? :P

Heeee.

Did you watch/like Sang-Do with Rain?

Re: the guy in Robbers. I think the thing with him (and it doesn't make me dislike the drama or not be interested him as a character, but it does make me not find him 'fluffy/angsty/cute') is that unlike with (e.g.) Sang-Do, we see the damage and the cruelty of what he does upfront: that poor little clerk, the fact that he plans to scam heroine out of money etc (unlike in Sang-Do where he found his first love and was genuinely wooing her).

And of course, up through ep 6 we don't know why he is doing these despicable things. Sure, he is in debt, but that's not a good noble reason. Of course, I am totally spoilered so that's probably I am feeling super-charitable towards him, apparently he incurred all those debts to get his older sister out of an abusive marriage, so she could start a life by herself, but instead she used the money to pay off her horrid husband's debts and stayed with him. And then he had no way to repay so turned to that sort of a life...

I also really love stories of guys who set out to con a woman for whatever reason and then fall. Plus, I've been promised a lot of angst when he repents etc etc (apparently he goes to all the women he wronged to apologize) etc...I am a sucker for that sort of thing. It's supposed to have TONS of angst.

I have it and I even started it but THE ENDING!!! Why do they do this to us!

Yes, definitely. Also I guess his scheming doesn't look very attractive where with someone like "American Gigolo" (I confess, I like this film :D) what we see is almost a noble hero set on making all women happy.

Oh, I have got to that part already. I must have watched more that 4 eps.

I also like these types of stories. :D Like ALTK!
It all sounds good fun!! :D
